How to Lower Your Browser's
Security Settings
To access the library's research databases successfully from
off campus, you may need to lower your browser's security settings.
Firefox 2.0
1. Click on Tools.
2. Click on Options.
3. Click on Privacy.
4. In Cookies section, check "Accept cookies from sites."
5. Click on OK.
Firefox 1.5
1. Click on Tools.
2. Click on Options.
3. Click on Privacy.
4. Click on the Cookies tab.
5. Check "Allow sites to set cookies."
6. Click on "Content" at top of window.
7. Check "Enable Java" and "Enable Javascript."
8. Click on OK.
Internet Explorer 7.x
1. Select Tools.
2. Select Internet Options.
3. Select the Security tab.
4. Click on Default Level.
5. Move the slider bar to Medium-high or Medium.
6. Click on Apply.
7. Click on OK.
Internet Explorer 6.x
1. Click on Tools.
2. Select Internet Options.
3. Click on the Security tab.
4. Click on Default Level.
5. Move the slider
bar to Medium-low or Low.
6. Click on Apply.
7. Click on OK.
Netscape 8.x
1. Click on Security Center.
2. Click on Current Site Settings.
3. Click on the arrow in the blue oval to the right of "Features For This Site."
4. Check "Allow Cookies" and "Enable JavaScript."
5. Click on Done.
6. Close Security Center window.
Netscape 7.x
1. Click on Edit.
2. Select Preferences.
3. Click on the arrow
next to Privacy & Security.
4. Click on Cookies.
5. Check
"Allow cookies based on
privacy settings."
6. Click on View.
7. In the Level of Privacy section, select low, medium or high.
8. Click on OK.
9. Click on OK.
