Bare Bones 101: 
A basic tutorial on Searching the Web created by Ellen Chamberlain, Head Librarian at the University of South Carolina.

Entering the World-Wide Web: A Guide to Cyberspace: 
A classic source of Internet information from 1993. Very clear and easy to understand, its descriptions of the workings of the Internet, World-Wide Web and Mosaic (the world's first browser), are still valid even today.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: or Why It's a Good Idea to Evaluate Web Sources 
An excellent & clear guide to website evaluation.  Also have a look at Suggestions for Successful Internet Assignments on the same website.  A valuable resource for both students and instructors!

Internet Navigator Course
An excellent online Internet course which covers topics ranging from basic navigation techniques and search engines to mailing lists and web page building.

Internet Public Library's Guide to Searching

An excellent online tutorial in web site creation for absolute beginners. Includes tutorials on other aspects of web site design such as tables, backgrounds, forms, frames, image maps, images, colors, buttons, etc.

This site takes you beyond the basics of web site design by looking at artistic composition, graphic metaphors, as well as offering many tips about how to reduce bandwidth while still preserving style and function.
