Annotation Guidelines

When annotating or summarizing a website for the LCC Library Internet Bookmark Collection, please consider the following questions:

  • Who is the author of the website (either individual or organization)?

  • What is the main purpose or goal of the website?

  • Why are you recommending this website?

  • What is especially noteworthy about this website?

  • What features are especially useful for LCC Students?

  • Does the website make a unique contribution to its subject area? If so, what is this?

  • Does the website highlight a local resource? If so please emphasize this in your annotation.

Try to keep your annotation to about 50 words or less.

A couple examples of fairly well-written annotations follow:

The Environmental Careers Organization
This non-profit organization aims to promote interest in environmental careers and to help students of environmental studies to find employment in their chosen field. The website contains current listings for the paid internships which ECO coordinates throughout the USA.

Lonely Planet Online
Lonely Planet publishes guidebooks for independent travelers. The website offers descriptions of worldwide travel destinations as well as information about practical travel issues. Features an excellent traveler's bulletin board.
