Library Cell / Wireless Phone Use Guidelines


The Lansing Community College Library is committed to enhancing learning and teaching at LCC. Providing an environment that is conducive to study as well as welcoming to all users is an important part of the library's overall commitment to student success.

These guidelines for cellular phone use and other devices that emit sound were developed to help maintain a quality study and research environment in the LCC library.

Ringers
Please turn off, mute or set to vibrate your personal phones or pagers while you are in the library.

Necessary Phone Calls
If it is necessary for you to take or make an important or emergency call while you are in the library please be considerate of people reading, researching or studying by moving to an area designated below.

Cell phones may be used, with discretion, in these designated library areas or outside of the library:

  • Group study rooms on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors.

  • Restrooms on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors.

  • Multi-media rooms on the 2nd floor.

  •  Hallway on the 2nd floor near the restrooms and pay telephone. Please keep your voice at a reasonable level to avoid disturbing others.

Do not make or take calls in the library lobby, the common study areas, or in the reference / computer research area on the 2nd floor of the library.

Enforcement
Persons using cell phones in non-designated areas of the library will be reminded of the library's guidelines and asked to move to a designated area within the library, or to terminate the call, or to leave the library to continue with the conversation.
