Meet the Writing Center Staff
When you visit the Writing Center, you will work with a Peer Writing Assistant (PWA). Most PWAs are LCC students (or, at least they were LCC students when they were initially hired, though some have now transferred to other institutions). All of our PWAs have completed WRIT 121 with a minimum course grade of 3.5. Most have also taken either WRIT 122 or ENGL 122. Many have taken several additional courses in LCC's writing program. Before they begin working with students, our PWAs must complete an intense thirty-hour training program where they learn techniques for working with student writers and practice responding to writing.
"I got a lot of insight on how to improve my paper. It was a good thing to be able to hear my paper read aloud because that way it was easier to catch mistakes that I had just read over."
Esmé Hancke, History Major
