She is Founder and Past President of the Michigan Writing Centers Association, Past President of the East Central Writing Centers Association, and former Community College Representative and Secretary of the International Writing Centers Association (an Assembly of the National Council of Teachers of English). Additionally, Pennington serves on the Editorial Review Board for the Writing Center Journal and has twice been a leader in the International Writing Centers Association’s Summer Institute for Writing Center Directors and Professionals.

Writing Across the Curriculum Coordinator

Lead Writing Assistant

Kim Cole is a second-year student at LCC pursuing a degree in education
and psychology.  She is hoping to transfer to MSU next spring.
Kimmy has been working in The Writing Center since summer 2003.

Lead Writing Assistant

Betsy Freedberg a theater major, has worked at the Writing Center for four years. She has what some may consider to be an unhealthy relationship
with coffee and likes long walks on the beach.

Peer Writing Assistant

Charlie Hahn is an LCC student with interests in many diverse areas, while specializing in computer information technology. He is currently the Writing Center’s Online Writing Assistant in addition to his duties as a PWA in the Center.

Peer Writing Assistant

Daniel R. Holt has been working at The Writing Center since fall 2006.
He has a Sign Language Interpreter Certificate of Achievement from LCC's program. He hopes to use the lessons on physical expression he learned from the sign program and apply them to an undergrad degree in dance after he graduates
from LCC with a General Education Associate's Degree.

Peer Writing Assistant

Megan Linsley began taking classes at LCC in 2005 and is planning on transferring to Central Michigan University in Fall 2008. She has been working in LCC's Writing Center since 2006. Meg enjoys smiling, drinking tea, and (conveniently enough) reading and responding to other people’s writing.

Peer Writing Assistant

Erin McDonnell has been working at the Writing Center since Fall 2006. She graduated from Lansing Community College with a General Associate's Degree and a Degree in Liberal Arts. Erin is now pursing further study in history and English with a secondary education emphasis in both. She will transfer to Central Michigan University in January 2008 to continue her goal of becoming a high school teacher.

Peer Writing Assistant

Patrick Murphy is entering his third year at LCC and is pursuing degrees
in Writing and Humorous Illustration.

Peer Writing Assistant

Joe Torok is working on a degree in Writing. When he's not working
on improving his own writing, he spends entirely too much time with his cats.

Peer Writing Assistant

Tiffany Turcotte is a graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor's degree in psychology. She currently is a Master's student at Michigan State studying Organizational Communication, where her primary focus will be on corporate training, human resource management, company modularization and efficiency. She has a part time assistantship with the Michigan State Writing Center where she serves as a Presentation Coordinator as well as a Graduate Writing Consultant. She also co-facilitates the Business Communication Writing Center satellite to further the communication and writing skills of its business students. Tiffany has worked in the Lansing Community College Writing Center as a Peer Writing Assistant since 2004.

Peer Writing Assistant

Tim Winston graduated from Everett High School in 2002.
He plans to attend MSU and is an engineering major.
Math and science take up a lot of his time, but he enjoys
writing  and dabbles a little in poetry.
