ELCC APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Students applying for admission to the ELCC at Lansing Community College must be at least 18 years old and have a minimum English proficiency level, as indicated by a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 40 on the computer-based test (310 on the paper-based test) or higher, or by an equivalent score on other tests as determined by the ELCC admissions committee.  Upon admission, LCC issues U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service Form I-20.  Admission is limited to classes at the ELCC.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Applicants must submit the following items:
 

1.  Completed Application Form and Financial Resources Statement
2.  Supporting financial documents

        One of the following documents meets this requirement:

a.  An original official bank statement in English showing the current amount
on deposit that is no less than $19,000*  The amount of the deposit may
be shown in U.S dollars or in indigenous currencies.  The deposit may be in the name of the applicant, the parent, or other guardians.  Documents cannot be dated more than six months prior to the date of application. Or

b.  An official letter from a sponsoring agency indicating the specific amount of support and conditions.

3.  One passport-size photo
4.  Documentation of your English proficiency

 One of the following documents meets this requirement:

a.  Copy of your TOEFL test score, or
b.  High school or college transcript showing English courses taken and grades, or
c.  Statement from any educational institution indicating your level of English proficiency.

II.  For applicants who already reside in the United States:

The deadlines are one (1) week prior to the beginning of each session.
 

All students who have been admitted to the ELCC program must attend the orientation meeting, which is held prior to the first day of each session.  During this meeting, you will be informed about the ELCC curriculum, placement testing, and U.S. immigration regulations.
