Spyware
Spyware is software that gets loaded on your computer without your permission or knowledge. Spyware initially was focused on keeping track of what sites that you visited so that the information could be sold to Internet marketing firms. The new class of spyware hopes to steal all sorts of information from your computer. The spyware may be trying get software license codes, bank account numbers or passwords. Many of these programs are set up to transfer the information back to a computer on the Internet at regularly scheduled times or will create a connection that will allow a person to access your computer remotely. The college has chosen SpySweeper from Webroot to load on all of our laptops and desktops to help protect us from this security threat.
