Humanities Program
Art is the
desire of a man to express himself, to record the reactions of his
personality to the world he lives in.
Amy Lowell
The humanities include all of the
creative arts: music, literature, theatre, architecture, dance,
mythology, religion, philosophy, and all forms of art. Humanities
is the study of humankind’s creative expressions whether they take
the form of novels, paintings, symphonies, myths, or any of the
many other expressions of humanity’s concerns. Students can learn
much about a person, a culture, or a time by studying relevant
manifestations of human creativity. And by exploring what others
have created, the student learns about him/herself and the culture
and time within which he/she lives.
