History Program
Those who do not
remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
George Santayana
History is the story of humanity’s
past. Through books, newspapers, printed documents, personal
papers, artifacts, and oral accounts, history reveals to us
events, patterns, cause and effect, and the relationship of past
and present. We learn not only what happened but also why it
happened and what events occurred in response. We study famous and
infamous characters and also the lives of “ordinary” people in an
effort to understand the past and the lessons it can teach us.
