We believe in developing in our students:
1. a confidence that allows them to recognize, confront, and
transcend self- imposed and cultural limitations;
2. an understanding of how the past has
shaped our contemporary
world and how global events influence life
now and in the future;
3. the capacity to recognize and celebrate cultural diversity;
4. a sensitivity to the universal nature of
human rights regardless
of cultural differences and a commitment to maintaining
the
dignity and worthiness of all peoples;
5. a sense of excitement about the
possibilities for self-discovery
and creative expression through participation in the
performing
arts, visual arts and literature;
6. an ability to integrate and comparatively
analyze the music,
theater, dance, literature, arts, philosophy, religion,
and history of
world civilizations past and present;
7. a spirit of respect toward our natural
environment and an
enhanced awareness of how we should interact with it;
and
8. an improved proficiency in critical
reading, writing, and thinking
skills.
