Fitness/Physical Conditioning

Fitness and Wellness offers a variety of fitness and physical conditioning classes that are designed to advance the overall health of the student. Emphasis is placed on learning appropriate exercise techniques as well as general wellness principles. Some courses included in the Fitness/Physical Conditioning program are total fitness, yoga, body flexibility, and adult lifestyles exercise.

Weight Training

Fitness and Wellness offers courses specifically focused on learning strength training methods. Instruction on proper lifting technique and training methodologies will be explored.

How to Register:

  1. Click on the course link.
  2. Choose the term during which you would like to take the class.
  3. Scroll through the "Subject" options until you find Phys Fitn: Health/Fitn Wlns or Phys Fitn: Weight Training, and highlight with curser.
  4. Click the Get Courses button.
  5. Find the course number of the class you want and click the lab, lecture or lab/lecture highlighted link to see times and days offered.
  6. To register you must login by clicking on the secured login highlighted link and following the prompts.

Fitness Center

LCC has two fitness centers, one on Main Campus and one on West Campus. Students can use both facilities by enrolling in total fitness classes (PFFT 100, 101, 102, 103, or PFFT 109). For students who want to use the facilities but not earn academic credit, student and alumni memberships are available. Faculty will help you design a customized fitness program to meet your needs.

Both centers offer a wide variety of cardiovascular and strength training machines including treadmills, ellipticals, both upright and recumbent bikes, Cybex, Free Motion and Magnum Fitness equipment as well as running/walking tracks and stretching areas.

Fitness Center Membership

A fitness center membership is available to LCC students, alumni, faculty and staff who are not seeking academic credit. A member is entitled to use either of LCC's two beautiful fitness centers. Weight Room

Main Campus - Gannon Building, Room 192

LCC's weight room is complete with Icarian, Cybex, Paramount, Hammer Strength and Morden machines, cardio equipment and over 10,000 pounds of free weights. The weight room offers ample selection for beginners to advanced students as well as expert instruction in the use of the equipment and the safest, best ways to achieve students' goals.

Weight Training Classes (PFWT)

We offer a variety of weight training classes allowing students to learn about safety, the proper use of equipment, muscle strengthening and endurance. Classes are available for beginners as well as advanced weight training students. Click here for course and registration information.

Membership

For current students, the price is $50 per semester for Fall, Spring and Summer.  For alumni, faculty and staff, the price is $60 per semester for Fall, Spring and Summer.

Membership Requirements

Fitness Center members must have current student status, be a current faculty or staff, or have taken at least one class through Lansing Community College.  Current students must be enrolled in at least one class in order to be eligible for the membership.

How to Enroll

If paying by credit card, a membership can be purchased online at www.lcc.edu/mall. After paying online, you must bring your membership packet information to HHS 108 in order for you to redeem your membership card. If paying by cash or check a membership packet can be picked up at the Physical Fitness and Wellness Office located in the Health and Human Services Building, Room 108. Forms should be returned with payment to the Fitness and Wellness Office.

Total Fitness Orientation Schedule for Fall 2014

PFFT 100, 101, 102, 103, and 109 are open workout classes. Course and registration information is available at lcc.edu/schedule/.

All students enrolled in Total Fitness A, B, C, or D and Introduction to Fitness MUST attend an orientation session at one of the following times or on Desire to Learn.  There will be NO late orientations!

Orientation sessions will last approximately 50 minutes.  Students do not need to be dressed for activity.

Note:  Students cannot work out in the Fitness Center until they have completed an orientation.  This includes all new and returning students.  Contact the Program Office at 483-1410 if you have any questions.

Fall 2014

  • Orientation can also be completed through Desire-to-Learn (D2L) starting Thursday, August 21.  Please complete the "orientation quiz" on D2L.
  • In order to workout you MUST print off the completed copy and hand in at either Fitness Center!
