Submission Guidelines:
Lansing Community College
recognizes that learning is enhanced when the physical aesthetics of
its buildings and grounds are inviting and appealing. In addition,
Lansing
Community College is an
engaged and active entity within the community, and as such, would
like to expand its support of the arts in the Greater Lansing area.
To that end, the College is continuing its initiative to increase
the placement of visual art in and around its buildings. This will
be achieved through the selection, purchase and display of student,
faculty and staff works that portray the diversity of talents and
interests of the LCC community.
The selection will take place in
April 2008. The College
will spend up to $4,000 to acquire artwork to be placed in the
University
Center and the Washington Court
Place
Building, as well as other public areas
of the campuses. In addition, college divisions and departments will
have an opportunity to purchase artwork for their specific office
and academic areas.
Students who have been enrolled
in art and photography classes within the past year will also have
the opportunity to have their work considered for purchase through
the Eric Zimmerman Visual Art Fund. Please see the back cover of the
brochure for more information.

About
the Eric Zimmerman Visual Art Fund:o:p>
Eric Hardy
Zimmerman graduated from East Lansing High school in 1967 and attended both the University of Michigan
and Michigan State University..
Eric received a BFA and an MFA from the U of M. He was interested in
architecture and landscape design before he became a fine arts
major, and these interests were reflected in his artwork. He was a
painter who, like many others, never made a living as an artist. The
Zimmerman Fund exists to support the purchase and display of LCC
student artwork on campus. By creating and supporting this fund in
Eric's memory, Eric's family hopes to encourage current and future
art and photography students to pursue their art as a lifetime
career while improving the aesthetics of public spaces at Lansing/st1:PlaceName> Community College.
Students
who have been enrolled in an art or photography class at LCC in the
past year (since January of 2007) are eligible to have their work
juried for purchase through this fund in addition to the Artwork on
Campus selection process. Artists selected through the Zimmerman
Visual Art Fund are given a set award of $350 per piece, which may
be more or less than the price the artist sets for the Artwork on
Campus selection.
