Guest Applicants

Who is a Guest Student?

A guest student is a person studying towards a degree or certificate program at a college or university (referred to here as the home institution) who wishes to take a limited number of courses at Lansing Community College to complete that program. Guest students should complete the LCC online guest application. Guest students should apply only for the first semester of attendance.

International Guest students (any student on an F1, J1, or M1 visa) must meet other requirements for guest admission and should use the International Admissions link for additional information.

Note: Lansing Community College does not require that guest students submit the Michigan Uniform Guest Student Application. However, the student's home institution may require it. In that case, the student should retain the application his/her personal records.

Guest students must meet the course pre-requisites as published in the LCC course catalog prior to registering. Guest students who wish to use course work completed at their home institution must either apply for a waiver or for transfer credit. Waivers are the quickest method of meeting pre-requisites but are valid for only one semester. Use the links on this page to see more information about waivers and to obtain the waiver request form.

Transfer credit becomes a permanent part of the student's educational record at LCC. It may take six weeks during peak times for transfer credit evaluations to be completed. Use the link on this page to see more information on how to apply for transfer credit.

Lansing Community College does not limit the number of semesters that a guest student may attend classes. However, guest students should consult an advisor at their home institution to discuss that school's policies on transfer credit and continued attendance at another institution.
