Career Facts - Landscape Architecture Program

What They Do:
Landscape architects plan and design residential, commercial and public properties.  This may include home landscapes, housing communities, parks and recreation facilities, urban green space and commercial sites.  Landscape architect technicians are involved in the professional process of site analysis, planning, design, layout, construction and management of landscapes.  They strive to find a balance between nature and industry in way that is compatible with the natural environment.

Who Would Enjoy It:
Students should enjoy designing and creating outdoor spaces, using a variety of construction materials and plants.  Working outdoors is another attractive feature of green industry careers.

How Many Jobs Available:
Employment of landscape architect technicians is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through the year 2016. Opportunities depend on geographic location, local real estate and constructions markets.
