If you’re interested in small business counseling or specific small
business seminars available through the Region 8 Michigan Small Business
and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) at Lansing Community College,

SBTDC counseling is a great choice if you:
- You own your own business and it is your sole source of income.
- You own your own business and it is NOT a home-based business.
- You own your own home-based business that generates revenues of more than $10,000 per year.
- You plan to buy an existing business and are already in negotiations with the seller of that business.
SBTDC seminars are generally the best choice if:
- You own your own home-based business with revenues less than $10,000 per year.
- You need specific help with marketing, finance, legal issues, or e-commerce to help build the business.
- You started a new business within the last year and have generated little or no revenues so far. You need specific help with marketing, finance, legal issues, or e-commerce to help build the business.
- You don’t own a business yet but plan to in the near future.
- You have significant working experience in the industry that your business will be in (ie. you plan to open a restaurant and you’ve been a restaurant manager for five years).
- You need a comprehensive business plan.
- You are ready to launch a new business soon, but you need basic information about taxes, employees, legal entity (i.e. corporation or LLC), licensing, and other business startup issues.

Accelerating Michigan Entrepreneurs (AME) is dedicated to helping business owners set strategic direction, develop leadership skills, grow their business, and establish relationships with other companies. They use online communication tools and their web portal (https://www.accelmich.org/) to provide mid- to long-term counseling and coaching that result in solutions for small businesses in Michigan.
