Applications are available by your local intermediate school district. Application packets for Lansing Community College’s GATE Saturday School
will also be available through the local schools 4-8 weeks prior to the
start of each Saturday School session. Interested parents should begin
the process by contacting their child’s teacher or building principal,
to obtain a recommendation.
Forms must be turned in to district contacts per instructions
in the packet.
What is the Gifted and Talented Education
Program?
Lansing Community College GATE (Gifted and Talented
Education) Saturday School is an enrichment program that offers classes
in the arts, sciences and technology to students in 2nd through 8th
grades who have outstanding academic ability or have demonstrated a special ability in a particular subject area.
When is it offered?
GATE is offered on scheduled Saturday mornings during the LCC Fall
and Spring Semesters. -

2nd - 8th Grade students in Clinton, Eaton, Shiawassee
and Ingham
Intermediate School Districts that are recommended by a teacher.

Interested applicants must:
Be in grades 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8
Attend school in either Clinton, Eaton or Ingham county.
Receive a written recommendation by a local gifted and talented program coordinator and/or classroom teacher, coach, youth program leader, etc.
Complete the GATE Saturday
School Recommendation Form.
Complete the GATE Saturday School Application Form.
A recommendation should come from an individual outside the child’s family, who is familiar with the child’s academic ability. This may be a coach, youth program leader, religious teacher, etc. Completed applications and recommendations must still be sent to the appropriate district contact. - [ more ]
| Selection Process |
There are a limited number of openings in each
class, and all applicants may not be admitted to the program. Every effort will be made to place students in their first
choice course selection. When
this is not possible, students will be assigned to their alternate class
choice, as indicated on the application.
Students selected to participate in GATE Saturday School will
receive written notification of their class assignment, including
additional instructions regarding payment procedures and program
specific information.

For Spring 2008, GATE will run from April 5 - May 3 or April 12 - May 10, 2008All classes will be held on Saturday, from 9:00a.m.-11:50a.m.

| Cost and Payment |
The tuition varies for each class. Specific classes may have additional lab or supply fees that will be indicated under course descriptions in the GATE Saturday School Application Packet. Payment is due upon written notification of the student’s class assignment. - [ more ]
