CSI: The Case of the Feline Fiasco

Lori Kindsvatter teaches for Lansing Community College in the Gifted and Talented and A+ programs in the area of forensic science. She presently teaches AP Biology, Anatomy and Physiology and General Biology at Pewamo-Westphalia schools in Westphalia, Michigan where she is also the science department chairperson and mentor teacher.

Lori's philosophy in learning and teaching science is to experience science firsthand. She enjoys viewing the whole world in terms of "how it works". This allows her to appreciate the details in everyday life. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from Michigan State University. She briefly worked at Ingham Medical Hospital in the hematology department and at Dow Chemical in Midland before continuing her education. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Science Education from Ferris State University, where she majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry. She also has an additional endorsement in Physical Science, and is DX certified to teach all sciences 7-12 grade. Lori completed a Masters of Science degree in Biology and Conservation Biology from Central Michigan University. her thesis was entitled, "Habitat Selection in the Eastern Milk Snake, Lampropeltis triangulum triangulum". Her research involved surgically implanting radio transmitters into her test snakes, then studying the snakes' movement patterns and habitat use to analyze habitat selection in importance of reptiles in the ecosystem.

Lori enjoys spending time with her husband, Chris and her six-year-old son, Kaleb. In her spare time, she enjoys running and training for marathons, music, photography, reading and all things in nature. She also enjoys her numerous pets; two Alaskan malamutes, a cat, four snakes, several mouse colonies, a leopard gecko and fish.
