Jazz Ensemble
Jonathan Gewirtz received his Masters of Music Performance in saxophone
study from Michigan State University. His teachers include Joseph
Lulloff, Ron Blake, Diego Rivera, and John Nichol. Jonathon has
performed at the North American Saxophone Alliance regional and national
conferences in solo and quartet settings. During his collegiate career,
Jonathan earned numerous jazz and classical awards at nationally
recognized intercollegiate music competitions.
Professionally, Jonathan has performed with The Jimmy Dorsey Big Band,
The Midland Symphony Orchestra, and The Lansing Symphony Big Band. He
has performed throughout the United States, Europe, and Brazil. Along
with being a saxophone and jazz band instructor, he teaches a variety of
music classes at Lansing Community College, Olivet College, and
Hillsdale College including music appreciation, blues and jazz history,
music theory, and aural skills.
