Jim has a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology. He has taught
Special Education, German Language, Medical and Psychological
Disabilities, Social Security Regulations, Watercolor Painting and
Drawing. He has been a long time employee of the Michigan Department of
Education and the Department of Human Services. He is also approaching
25 years of teaching with Lansing Community College.
Jim's teaching reflects the importance he gives to the affective
component in the learning environment for both younger and mature
learners. He is recognized for his enthusiasm and the ability to
individualize instruction whenever it is needed.
His academic classes are comprehensive in scope and are designed to
develop both future BFA/MFA students with portfolios that yield
scholarships and students who want to make the transition to being
working artists by providing experiences in all aspects of their craft.
Jim is "the student" in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales: "Willingly
would he teach and willingly would he learn."
