Process for Requesting Participation in the LCC/CTE Teaching Online Certification (TOC)

  1. For a description of this training, dates when it is offered, etc., please see the CTE’s website at http://www.lcc.edu/cte/workshops/teaching_online_cert.aspx
  2. The prerequisite to this training is the three hour "Introduction to ANGEL" workshop. To register for this workshop, go to http://www.lcc.edu/cte/workshops/registration.aspx?tab=tech#ITA73. If you wish to opt out of this prerequisite training, you may take an ANGEL proficiency exam. To schedule your proficiency exam, please complete "The ANGEL Proficiency Exam Request" form.

Participation in this prerequisite workshop will be verified prior to enrolling participants in the "LCC/CTE Teaching Online Certification."

  3. To request participation in the upcoming "LCC/CTE Teaching Online Certification," complete the online form found at http://www.lcc.edu/cte/toc/request.aspx by Friday, April 30, 2010. Upon submission, this form goes directly to your Department Chair. Please note: Preference will be given to faculty who have either taught the course face-to-face and/or who have experience teaching in the subject area related to the course they will be teaching online. If your Department Chair approves your request, she or he will forward your online submission to the CTE.
  4. If the CTE receives more than 20 names, the names will be forwarded to the Deans Council. The Deans Council will determine the final list of participants and then notify the CTE.
  5. Once the CTE has received the final list, an email will be sent to the approved participants at the onset of the upcoming semester to confirm participation and address next steps.

*Please note: Participants can expect to spend a minimum of 10 hours per week engaged in this six week seminar. While this is an online training, it is not self-paced. There are specific deadlines for each assignment, chats, etc. Participants unable to meet the required deadlines will be dropped from this training.
