CTE Grants
Academic Software Grant
This grant provides faculty with an opportunity to try new and/or innovative software in the area of teaching and learning. The focus of the Grant is to provide the means for individuals to "try out" new software. Your findings and evaluations may lead to contributing to your department's normal software selection process. Academic Software Grants are limited to a maximum of $500 each. The total number of grants awarded is based on available funds.
Guidelines for software grants:
- Usage must be consistent with new software copyright laws, license agreements, and the LCC acceptable use policy. The software should support teaching and learning initiatives at LCC.
- The initial use of this software is not for public LCC computing labs and/or student use.
- Software maintenance, training, upgrades, and documentation are the responsibility of the grantee.
- These grants are intended to provide seed money for innovate software applications. Therefore, once the educational worth of a specific software package is determined for a particular application, the CTE may not fund the purchase of further copies. (These purchases need to be considered by the departments, divisions or college as a whole e.g. Purchase of Adobe Acrobat for document posting.) Please click here to find out what software is not available through the CTE based on this criteria.

Incentive Grant for Teaching Innovations
Faculty is there an innovative project that you have been considering but haven't pursued due to time and/or cost constraints? If so, read on and consider submitting a proposal for an Incentive Grant. The CTE will fund awards up to $2000 for each grant that supports teaching and learning innovations. There are no submission deadlines, however proposals will only be accepted Fall and Spring Semesters. The total number of grants awarded is based on available funds.
Innovations might include:
- Teaching strategies that encourage interaction.
- Classroom research or experimental learning projects.
- Learning tasks that encourage students to work together.
- The use of multimedia, and/or other instructional technologies that support teaching and learning.
- New approaches to evaluating student performance and learning outcomes.
Upon completion of the project, grant recipients are expected to share project outcomes with colleagues via a Brown Bag, workshop, the CTE's newsletter, Spotlight on Faculty, or the CTE website.
Applicants must download and complete a submission form. Proposals shall be no more than three single-spaced typed pages. Each applicant must submit 5 copies of the proposal along with the submission form to the CTE in TLC 324 or via courier to Mail Code 8111. Please do not include your name on the proposal copies. Submissions will be evaluated by a blind review process. The proposal must include the following to be considered:
- Title
- Project Description:
Please provide a brief synopsis of your project to include, but not limited to, who is involved, how this project is innovative and/or an improvement over current options, and the levels of support and/or approval (if needed) you've acquired within your department. - Expected Outcomes:
The outcomes should reflect how this project will enhance teaching and learning. In addition, they ought to be measurable and warrant the costs and effort of your project. - The Method of Evaluation:
Describe the quantitative and/or qualitative measures you will use to evaluate each of your project outcomes. - The Procedure for Implementing the Project with Specific Timelines:
Include all methods in detail and include specific dates for the start and end of implementation, key stages, and evaluation. - The Potential for Dissemination:
Describe how many faculty and/or students will directly benefit from this project. Consider, if appropriate, how your innovation can be replicated and used in other departments to address similar teaching and learning needs. - Budget:
Create an itemized breakdown of how the money will be used. Also include any contributions of other funds from grants or department resources.
