Classroom Strategies for Fostering Student Retention

According to research in the area of student retention, there are three major factors which foster student persistence: 1) The quality of education, 2) Personal contact with faculty, and 3) The home-like atmosphere of residence halls. Although one might dismiss the idea of residence halls at a community college, faculty can still create a positive learning environment. In this booklet, you will find 12 key strategies with specific examples for promoting student persistence.
