What we offer
We offer fifteen courses, all transferable, in the Writing
Program: WRIT 121 and WRIT 122 (and their Honors versions),
Business Writing, Tech Writing, Journalism, and Advanced
Writing. While most of our enrollment falls at the
Freshman level, we have one of the finest advanced writing
programs in a community college, offering courses in
advanced Journalism, Design and Layout, Creative Writing I
and II, Writing for Publication, Writing the Novel, Seminar
in Prose Style, and Forum for Authors and we currently offer
an
Associate Degree in Writing.
Modes of Delivery
We also offer several modes of delivery of our classes.
We teach face-to-face, hybrids, and on-line.
We teach from 8:00 am - 10:00 pm Monday - Thursday and 8:00
am - 5:00 pm Fridays and Saturdays, both on campus and
at off-campus Learning Centers.
Assessment
We have led the campus in External Assessment, with
fully-developed assessment programs, based on portfolios, in
first-year Composition, Business and Tech Writing.
For each of the Writing courses, there is a standard
syllabus containing information on textbooks, course
requirements, grading systems, a course outline, and
Department policies on attendance, incompletes, and
withdrawals.
