Anderson brings to LCC extensive experience as a teacher, adjudicator, and performer. At several colleges she has taught clarinet, music history, and music theory. She has also taught public and private school band, orchestra, and general music. Marcia was Principal Clarinetist with the Saginaw Symphony Orchestra for twelve years, and has also played with the Seattle and Lansing symphonies. She performs regularly with the Vintage Woodwind Quintet and frequently in other chamber ensembles and as a clarinet soloist. For five years she performed and taught in Finland, Malaysia, and New Zealand. Under a Fulbright grant in Finland, she did research for her doctoral dissertation. Marcia was the first clarinetist at Michigan State University to earn a Ph.D. in Music: Performance, Theory, and Literature.
