Marilyn Joy Pierce received her Bachelors of Music Education with honors from MSU, and completed graduate work at MSU, CMU, and St. John's University in Minnesota.
She has performed to critical acclaim and served as musical director for the Riverwalk Theater, the Lansing Civic Players, the Boarshead Theater, and has sung opera at MSU, LCC, Eaton Rapids Community Theater and the Lansing Lyric Opera. Her awards include a "Star" from the Spotlight Theater and a "Player's Award" from the Lansing Civic Players for excellence in music direction, and she appeared as one of the three soloists in the world premier of "Sophie's Sisters" by Marjan Helms.
Marilyn is a vocal instructor at Lansing Community College and has a private studio in her home near Williamston. Her students are frequent area talent show, National Association of Teachers of Singing District and Regional Award winners, and recipients of college vocal scholarships. Marilyn served as the coordinator of the Performance Arts Students of the Lansing Matinee Musicale from 1996-2000, now serves as the chairman of the scholarship committee and is also a member of The National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC), the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and The Voice Care Network International.
