Jon Gewirtz received his Masters of Music Performance in saxophone study from Michigan State University and his Bachelors of Music Education degree from Central Michigan University. His teachers include Joseph Lulloff, Ron Blake, Diego Rivera, and John Nichol.
Jonathon has performed at the North American Saxophone Alliance Regional and National Conferences in solo and quartet settings. During his collegiate career, Jonathon earned numerous jazz and classical awards at nationally recognized intercollegiate music competitions.
Professionally, Jonathon has performed with the Jimmy Dorsey Big Band, the Midland Symphony Orchestra, and the Lansing Symphony Big Band. He has performed throughout the United States, Europe, and Brazil, and teaches a variety of music classes at Lansing Community College, Olivet College, and Hillsdale College including music appreciation, blues and jazz history, music theory, and aural skills, along with being the saxophone and jazz band instructor.
