Foreign Language Career Facts

With the rise of globalization, more and more companies are seeking employees able to speak multiple languages. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, "interpreters and translators is expected to be the fifth-fastest-growing occupation through 2022. Employment of interpreters and translators is projected to grow 46.1 percent as the occupation adds 29,300 jobs. As the U.S. population continues to become more diverse and as companies become more globalized, more interpretation and translation services will be needed." Members of the U.S. military, for example, are able to increase their monthly salary by up to $1,000 if they are proficient in multiple languages.
