IT Apprenticeship Program

Lansing Community College provides an excellent opportunity for students interested in IT classes to move into the IT Apprenticeship program.

LCC is committed to students under a grant awarded by the National Science National Science FoundationFoundation, providing students with the opportunity to work with an experienced apprenticeship coach, Lois McIntosh, who is committed to guiding students through setting up successful apprenticeship experiences.

Using the latest Technologies, LCC has set up a database for employers to review prescreened student resumes. Students can post resumes and credentials online for apprenticeship site employers to browse prior to interviewing.

How it Works

The IT Apprenticeship program is concurrent on-the-job training and classroom instruction. Upon completion, apprentices will earn an associate degree as well as Department Of Labor Apprenticeship credentials related to but not limited to the following specialties:

  • IT Generalist
  • Database Services
  • Network Infrastructure and Devices
  • Information Assurance and Security
  • Project Management
  • Web Design and Administration
  • Business Technologies Management
  • Help Desk

The benefits of an IT Apprenticeship include paid employment, structured on the job training with related classroom instruction, specialized skills related to the job, and opportunities to gain practical experience.

IT Speed Networking Event

Career & Employment Services held its first Information Technology Speed Networking Event on September 30th, 2011. It was a great success with the students and employers. Thirty eight employers from the IT field shared their knowledge and expertise with fifty of our IT students. Some of the participating employers were Accident Fund, Auto Owners, Cisco Systems, AJ Boggs, Lansing Board of Water and Light, Ciesa Designs, TechSmith, Two Men & Truck, jadian enterprise, inc. and Providence Consulting, etc.
