In a recent survey of mid-Michigan employers, 59% prefer hiring a candidate with IT experience, certification, and a high school degree over a candidate with a bachelor's degree, good grades but little practical IT experience. Over 80% look for credentials or certifications when outsourcing IT services.

Taking Exams 

Lansing Community College is a designated Prometric and Certiport Testing Center, which means that all testing for your certification can be done at LCC's Assessment Center.  Because the cost of testing is included in the course fees you pay, there is no additional fee for testing at the college's Assessment Center.  

On-site Certification 

The Business & Community Institute (BCI) at LCC provides on-site training and certification for mid-Michigan employers. Click the link above to contact the BCI for more information. 

 

Microsoft Certified Professional
These courses lead to the Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) certificate, which is for technical professionals who are using Microsoft BackOffice and developer products, and who will be installing, configuring and administering MS Windows.  

Microsoft Office Specialist
These certificates are available for MS Office products, including Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word. 

Certified Novell Administrator
This certification demonstrates the necessary skills to handle the day-to-day administration of an installed Novell networking product such as NetWare. 

Sun Certified Programmer for the Java Platform
This certificate covers the use of the Java programming language to create Java applications and applets.  

CompTIA Learning Alliance
The CompTIA Learning Alliance provides certification for a range of platforms, including A+, Network+, and Linux+. 

Oracle Academic Initiative
These certificates are for programmers using the Java 2 platform and Oracle SQL and PL/SQL programs.
