CDA Credential Training
Certificate of Completion
Curriculum Code: 0921 (Effective Fall 2002 - Summer 2007)
The CDA (Child Development Associate) Credential is a national credential earned
by individuals working with children age five and younger in a group child care
setting. This certificate provides the training required for CDA credential
assessment. To complete field work requirements, students must be working in a
child care setting.

NOTE:
1. Each course must be completed with a 2.0 minimum grade to be counted
toward certificate completion.
2. Students must be employed or volunteer in an approved child care program
with children 5 years of age or younger for at least two half days per
week in order to be observed working as a lead caregiver during CHDV 251.
3. Individuals applying for the CDA credential must have 480 hours of
experience working with children aged 5 and below in a child care setting.
4. CDA credential assessment is conducted by the Council for Professional
Recognition, Washington, D.C., and requires a fee and additional
assessment procedures beyond this certificate.
SUGGESTED COURSE SEQUENCE
Students should see course descriptions to find out when departments plan to
offer courses. Students who for any reason are unable to follow the course
sequence suggested below (for example, those who are part-time, have transferred
in courses from another school, or have prerequisites to fulfill) should contact
an academic advisor or counselor for help with adjustments.
