Red Hat Linux Training with RHCSA / RHCE Certification

Red Hat Linux System Administration 3
Internet, Network Services and Security

This course is a fast-paced, high-level introduction to the standard file sharing services of Linux and Microsoft systems (NFS, FTP, SMB), as well as an introduction to configuring Internet services DHCP, DNS and HTTP (server and rpoxy) all with a significant emphasis towards security configuration (firewall, SELinux and TCP-Wrappers).

Students will review configuring file space using partitions and advanced partitioning services like RAID and LVM, installing and configuring software, securing networking services, remote log management, service startup management, process control, secure network access, secure packet filtering and wide area networking security, as well as tips for troubleshooting a damaged, misconfigured or compromised system.

The objective of this course is to help attendees develop significant technical abilities in just a few days and optionally to prepare for the Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) exam. This course is more effective in developing the required skills than months of on-the-job training and individual study.

LAN fundamentals or equivalent; Internet working with TCP/IP or equivalent. 3+ months of solid hands-on experience managing any other type of system is also ideal.

Students must already understand general LAN administration of Linux hosts and have a very good grasp of standard commands and utilities within a UNIX/Linux command line interface (as per SA1 and SA2 courses). This course builds on these skills by focusing and building on the many concepts used within a Linux or UNIX environment to administer Internet facing services securely.

NOTE: This class is not the starting point for anyone new to Linux or UNIX, Students MUST already understand a significant level of knowledge related to Linux file systems, file manipulation utilities and have excellent experience working and administering a Linux-based operating system on a live network, preferably Internet facing.
