Based on the system of profound knowledge developed by Dr. W. Edwards Deming, this five-day session incorporates quality practices you can apply in your organization or personal life.

Course Descriptions:

Introduction to Quality Management provides the underlying philosophy associated with quality management according to Dr. W. Edwards Deming's "system of profound knowledge" and forms the basis for the Academy. You will have an opportunity to participate in the Deming Red Bead Experiment.

Applying Systems Thinking to Your Business
is for managers and others working on change aimed at improvement. This session will involve you in discussions and hands-on activities to increase your understanding of systems in business and life.

Listening to and Utilizing the Voice of the Customer and Understanding the Language of Variation promotes a proactive approach to obtaining and using feedback from your customer. You will learn why an understanding of variation is a key to creating long-lasting, effective improvements in your business using team-based, hands-on exercises and quality tools.

Theory of Knowledge: Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) Cycle and Quality Tools will focus on an understanding of the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) Cycle and the steps for planning a measurement process. PDSA can ensure that data collected will be consistent and useful in making the most effective decisions. You will learn when and how to use Quality Tools throughout the PDSA improvement process and put those tools into practice.

Restoration of the Individual: A Practical Approach to the Psychology of Improvement and Change examines the key concepts and assumptions that impact our ability to generate improvement and change. You will gain an understanding of how Dr. Deming's beliefs on psychology help us to understand and predict how uncertainty and variation in circumstances affect people and apply in any system of management.
