Welcome to the LCC Banner Project web site. The Banner Project began in August 2006 when the LCC Board of Trustees approved an administrative recommendation to retain SunGard Higher Education to help the College transition from an Oracle information technology system to a Banner system. SunGard Higher Education was seen as the best partner for the College to work with in achieving its student success, operational and information technology goals.

I believe that the Banner system will advance the College’s mission by

• enhancing our ability to provide better services to those individuals and organizations directly and indirectly impacted by the College, including students, parents, employees, educational institutions, governmental agencies, business and industry, and other partners; and

• improving institutional effectiveness by improving operations and data access which leads to improved decision making and educational services.

Banner will replace our current Finance, Human Resources, Student, Financial Aid and web portal systems. Throughout the project, which will continue through 2008, staff, faculty and students will be involved, adequate personnel resources will be provided, a detailed project plan with tangible deliverables will be followed, and continuous communication about the project will be provided. Quality will not be sacrificed for expediency.

It is critically important to the success of this implementation that our employees and the community be provided ongoing information about the project’s status. This will be accomplished through this web page, Campus Communications, and at various meetings. I encourage all employees and our community to keep abreast of developments and communicate with Project Manager Jack Bergeron and/or Project Ombudsman Carol Harton if they have any questions or comments.
