On-Campus Testing

The Assessment Center offers two primary types of testing,
placement testing and course testing. In addition, Core
Proficiency Exams are offered through the Departmental Offices
and also administered at the Assessment Center.

Placement Testing
and Waiver Information |
|
|
Almost every student who attends Lansing Community College will
have to do Placement Testing. Placement Testing consists of
the basic skills test that supply students with academic
levels that are needed to enroll for courses.
Students with high ACT or SAT scores,
previous college coursework in English, or a completed
college degree may be eligible to waive Reading and
Writing placement tests. Students who have
successfully completed Intermediate Algebra or higher within
the previous two years may be eligible to waive Math

For any student who is enrolled in a Virtual College, Telecourse, or Hybrid course through Lansing Community College
that needs to complete an exam for that class. |

Core Proficiency Exams |

The college also offers Core Proficiency exams. To begin the
process, students are required to speak with the
support Staff in the
Math, Language Skills, or Science department
before taking the exam. |
